The client

AO World are one of the UK’s most trusted electrical retailers, with around 3,000 members of staff throughout the country. They sell major and small domestic appliances, mobile phones, and consumer electronics and deliver them via their own in-house logistics operations and carefully selected third parties.

Problem

The dock levellers at AO World’s Crewe depot had deteriorated, resulting in operational inefficiencies and posing potential safety risks during loading and unloading. The existing system was no longer fit for purpose, requiring a robust solution to restore functionality and protect the building from future damage.

Solution

The project involved breaking out the failed dock levellers and installing a new reinforcement design to enhance durability. New dock levellers were then fitted, along with cast-in building protection, ensuring a safer, more efficient loading process while safeguarding the structure against future wear and tear.
